As much as I like Jorge, his understanding of economics is lacking.

Unfortunately we cannot hash out the solutions of the world or even our small part of it, on a 3 hour radio show, especially one in which someone other than me gets to talk. <g>

But seriously, one needs a good grasp of economics and history, (and Jorge does have a much better grasp than most,) but he falls into the same logic trap as too many others fall into.

I would strongly recommend to anyone curious about the subject read Adam Smith's "The Wealth of Nations."

Unfortunately, this is a fairly difficult read. But we here at Hale Bobb think you out there in the land of sanitary pedestals should have the opportunity to hear the book read to you in the MP3 format.

Goatboy was gracious enough to gank the MP3's from LibriVox and so we put them up for your downloading pleasure, uploaded with your mind in mind.

Please download them rather than listening from our site.

If you prefer to read instead of being read to...
The book comes in two volumes, 1085 pages and can be read (free) online here: http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/330

You'll not want to attempt to digest this tome in one, two or even three sittings.
Hey, what did you think; The correction of so many years of errors was going to be easy?

At least you don't have to read a read book! You can have some nice American man read it to you.

But if you want to read an actual book here's some used copies cheap.

Some guy named Jim has also put together a good website full of fun economics and government stuff. You should check it out:

As to the rant about this "Democracy" and how we don't treat it/it doesn't work as planned, etc. ...

There are many similar links and things on the main page.
Be sure to watch the "350 years of economic theory in 50 minutes" video on that page.
